the outlet on the pinto thermastat housing is 32mm and i have reducer on the water pump outlet from 38mm to 32mm, but both the inlet and outlet on my
rad are 26mm, obviously i can put reducers in the pipe work to get them to match, but how does this have an effect on the cooling efficiency? if it
has any effect that is?
answers on a postcard........
Alex
it's just speeding the water flow up through the pipes, which then drops drastically in the radiator before again speeding up out the outlet
hose
don't worry about it
what car is the rad from?
it was a custom built rad for a zx12 rush
I wouldn't worry about it Alex, as long as the engine temp. is about right
the rad is probably way OTT for you engine anyway....
...or are you thinking about engine upgrades again ?

Ain't a problem as long as the reducers are gentle. If you had a sudden change in bore you'ld get some funky flow going on which might upse
the coolant flow.... As long as you don't it's not a problem, the coolant will simply flow quicker through the narrower tube.
The big question I suppose is whether a radiator designed for a zx12 will be sufficient for a pinto. I suppose it's all to do with the
differences in efficiency, BHP levels etc..... Should suffice given the huge amount of air entering a Seven's nosecone....
i've been googling for half hour and im struggling to find 45 degree reducing hoses, im after 32mm-25mm, can anyone help?
or do they only come in 90 degree reducers and straight reducers

You still struggling with your plumbing alex
I believe they have only been made in straight or 90 degree so far.
There will be no moulds for 45degree reducers but you could try contacting Viper performance hoses http://www.viper-performance.co.uk/ to see if they
could make the but there will probably be a minimum order qty and a setup premium

looks like something you'd need to weld / braze together....
do you know all the dimensions you'd want for this s bent thing ?
some people cut the nudge bar off

your cat must have fat fingers as that linky no worky.
check out autoperformanceonline on ebay.
has 90 degre elbos that you can join up to make staggered pipe like you are after...... but you are looking at 25 mm ID so can you not use a length of
straight hose or is the run too short to avoid kinking?
I don't see you mention how long this piece is - take a look at rover v8 water pump to manifold hose see GHC 709
I am not sure if it 25 mm thoughm think it is smaller - in fact I have some old one that I can post FOC - but I'd need to measure it first to see
if it is of use. (NB old means usable but you'd want to replace should it prove to be successful).
----- looked at a ruler - pretty sure it is gonna be 5/8 inch i.e. too small.
BTW - don't quite understand what effect this has on your colling problem - you are thinking your current set up is restricting water flow?

i have used them successfully in the top half of my coolant system, they are fine
plus its gonna have to be a sharp bend other wise i can't get the pipes threw
