recommend me some exhaust wrap
omega0684 - 7/6/09 at 05:29 PM

what experiences have people had with different thicknesses of exhaust wrap, im after black wrap ideally, what are reasonable prices to pay for it?

I prefer the 1" to the 2".

Always try and get the correct steel band clasps.

Soak it in a bucket the day before and wear gloves (powdered/surgeon type) and long sleeves!

Enjoy!

I heard to apply it damp

I got some 2 inch black from ebay for 25 quid. seems quite good stuff. I soaked it before i fitted it. Keeps the dust off it down and easier to pull tight. Then just fire it up and let it dry out. I overlapped an inch when i fitted it. I can touch it when iv been for a thrash and it dont burn my finger.

Well i never knew about wetting it!
I just got the most for the least money off of ebay and it came with six metal tie wraps. 2" and wrapped it up tight. Looks good and does the business so far.

whats the normal thickness of the stuff? i bought some on ebay ages ago, i have a feeling it more or a stick on part to get a look. its only about 1mm thick.

I thought the only advantage of applying it was is that it makes it easier to bend round the tubular exhaust structure. I didn't bother with mine and no problems....

Personally I hate those wire wrap type things, I can never get enough tension on them. Ended up using jubilee clips like in the photo
