Just wondering if anyone had any good ideas for making a trolley for moving boxes and stuff to the car to move house

Am in a flat at the moment and so the runs to the car with stuff are long and a bit of a pain!

may also want to use it for music festivals - good for getting tent/stuff from car to site.

square steel box section base, with some fixed castors on one end and some swively ones on the other should do.

con't be able to do stairs though, not sure a trolley will be a huge help (unless you have a lift in your building)

A supermarket trolley would be just the job

Was thinking casters - i guess not so good for a camping field

this might sound silly but have a look on dog show websites as they make trolly,s for transporting dogs in cages from car to show ring(don,t want show dogs getting dirty etc), the ones i,ve seen look quite good( i don,t use one for my show dogs), they have large rubbered wheels & whole thing collapses to go in the boot /roof rack etc.
worth a try???

If you're doing festivals BIG wheels and ground clearance for when its muddy!!!

and easy to disassemble when you've sent up tent to stop it being 'borrowed' - perhaps convert into a camp bed?

Yes, big wheels (pref pneumatic) and folding for something like Glastonbury.

when i said castors, i meant big 5 or 6" ones, but a sack truck with inflating tyres would be a good idea

wheels aren't big enough / not enough ground clearance for glasto - seen those being dragged like a sled before!!!!

(makes me happy I pack light and just need a rucksack)

Bread men used to deliver trays on dolly's. Try the local bakery.

go round the back of your local super market, get one of the cages they use for food deliveries, removes the sides. This will leave you with 1msq flat board with 4 very stong castors on the bottom. Most supermarket will have some knackered ones with bent cages round the back, just ask and they will let you have one free.
