Prototype - new PC game
Jasper - 13/6/09 at 12:10 PM

Anybody else tried this yet? It's been well over a year that I've played a game on the old PC, but I downloaded a new game out called Prototype and it's quite amazing. A whole city you can explore, and with superpowers do all sorts of amazing and very violent stuff.

The one I particularly like is running straight up the sides of skycrapers and looking at the view from the top. You can then jump off and he falls at what looks like real speed to the bottom with good enough graphics to really turn your stomach on the way down. When he lands he creates a crater at the bottom, before running off and doing it all over again

If you like a nice violent but clever third person game give it a try...

Only played it briefly but yep running around squishing tanks, vehicles and people is always fun.

Feels like a console game but at least it runs well on my system which could do with an update soon.

Played a bit, sluggish controls, substandard story, open world is little more than a lobby to do the formulaic missions.

oh, and how the hell did those graphics escape from 2007?

It's fun for a bit, but nothing lasting.

Overall, I'm not impressed, but then I do spend more on gaming than on the car, so I'm a bit picky

So, what you recommend then for a good bit of not too complicated gaming ...

At the moment for stupid online gaming I'm enjoying Killing floor, Dead simple zombie shooter, goes well with booze.

Single player, I'm more of a fan of stuff like Farcry2 and STALKER (both games) They seem a fair bit more involved, but not super nerdy.

Though the story in FC2 is naff, missions are samey, but I enjoy it for some reason.

Oh, and Call of Duty 4, Great SP, Great MP (though the MP is a bit angry german kid)

I could go all day and recount every game I've played in the last umptyseven years, so I'll stop now.

Oh, if you like casual MP shooters, keep an eye out for battlefield heroes, it's a bit of fun.

i recomend Project reality which is an online only game. Its a free mod for Battlefield 2 on the pc only which makes it more real hence the name, so you have to work as a team with no lone wolfs and one map can take 2 hours to complete.

Its battlefield 2 for adults.

On the subject of BF2, have you tried the AIX mod? it's not as grown up as project reality, but they got most of the guns pretty reasonable (that is, they let me hide in a bush 500' away and annoy the enemy commander )

Quakelive is Quake3 played through your browser.

As simple as can be, I play CTF a fair bit.

Long live the railgun
