
i have just got my new rad for the car and the seller has made a right c*ck up, i sent him an e-mail confirming the sizes of the rad, i clearly wrote
is it 485mm WIDE, 525mm in HEIGHT, he sent me an e-mail saying YES thats correct. i had to go and pick it up from the DHL office but didn't take
my tape measure as i was assured that the dimensions were right.
just put it up to the car and it 525mm wide and 485 tall! so it DOESN'T FIT!

is there any problem with me just turning the rad through 90 degrees the inlet would be at the top still and so would the breather and the botton hose
would be at the bottom, but the fins would obviously now be vertical and not horizontal.
is this a problem

Apart from it being on its side and therefore inherently lazy - I can't see any issues.
Oh - the fins are 90 degrees out
(i'd wait for a more sensible answer - but i'd expect it to be fine)
Makes no difference as long as there is an inlet/outlet top and bottom and the breather is at the top.

Mmmm, didn't triumph use a cross flow radiator on the Stag, and all the cooling problems they had?
What you're doing by turning through 90 degrees is causing the coolant to cool as it crosses the radiator, rather than goes down the raditor,
thus any thermo-syphonic benifit is removed. i.e. water heating and rising through the engine, cooling and falling in the radiator, as long as the
pump is ok, you should be alright.

I think it wont work at all well - in it's normal orientation the water will travel from side to side , in a srt of zig-zag from top to bottom

Turn it on it's side and it will have to go up and down - it aint gonna like that
I'd shout at the seller - it's clearly not `as described` , so needs to go back .
Was there no photo on the listing ?
fairly sure it would be better that way, after all you do want hot in the top and cool out the bottom. I assume from your description that it was
intended to have both in and out at the top?
The water wont mind going up and down as the down bits will push through the up bits, the drag/friction inside the pipe will be the same either way.
