is it better to just wrap the primaries under the bonnet and then leave exposed pipes free to the open air OR is it better to wrap the entire exhaust system right up to the silencer?

Leave the bits outside of the car exposed to cool them otherwise the can is going to get seriously hot....

its only 1.5mm thick but you could always double it up.

Just taken some of that off my zorst to tighten one of the joints. There was a phenominal amount of black dust. Personally I think that the "graphite" is just something that is applied to the wrap. If I'd have know it was going to be that bad when I took it off I'd have worn a mask. I had black bogies for the next few days and, like everything else, probably wasn't that good for me.

The can is still touchable but it is a very big can

there is this camcoat/cearmcoat? stuff - some sort of spray on ceramic that acts as insulator.

will be ##### more but will look a lot better.

Not a fan of lots of exhaust wrap myself. I originally just wrapped the primaries under the bonnet. Now I simply use some heat shield under and around the sides to shield the ancillaries below. The bonnet above has a vent in it to stop heat building.

I found the graphite stuff goes white when its gets really hot (i.e right at the head) and when it gets wet.

I did wrap my exhaust to the can, but it looked rubbish after a while so I took it off and only wrapped it just outside the bonnet.

I used EXWRP25 from CBS. It's 1 inch wide and you get a nominal 55 feet for £29 + VAT. I wrapped the four pipes from the head to about three inches clear of the bonnet with about 50% overlap. There's about 12 inches left over!
As in my other post, beware the smoke and acrid smell as it cooks.

i have camcoat on my headers. they are dark in colour but do the job perfectly. not cheap though!
in the mnr section under im on the road,is pics of my car. one shows the camcoat exhaust.

Hi

Just remeber that when wrapping a manifold or system that all that heat that is being contained has to go somwhere. An awful lot of it will be backed up into the cylinder head.
