1998 Renault Espace. ABS light on.
Does it need resetting by renault after replacing a sensor or should the ECU
sort it itself ?
If it's the latter then there's something else amiss.
Most of the time to sort this out you need to remove the bulb behind the ABS light.
You missed that

Depends on the initial fault, but usually wheel sensors are self cancelling...
Normally an ABS light should switch it's self off by its self in the first instance. This function is to check that the wiring is complete.
If the light fails to go out then you have a circuit fault.
If the light goes out but then comes on when you drive it then you either have a faulty censor(/s), or, a fault with the reluctor ring(s).
On citroens I believe you have to leave battery disconnected for a couple of hours to clear all memory. SO I guess same is true of others
There's a braided earth lead from the ABS pump which had crumbled away.
Replaced and all now good. Reset itself
