MOT number plates

Do plates have to have the BS mark on to pass the MOT these days or are they OK as long as they meet the requirements?

The set on my mini are legal size, font etc but dont have a BS mark.

Cheers,
David

never heard that you have to change out old plates on older cars, so who's to say they've always been on the car....

I dont recall any MOT tester looking closely at any of my number plates. Seem to recall that they should display the postcode or name of company that made them.

Are you sure yours arent marked? halfords plates have the mark in a ghosted text, not always obvious to see.

They arent marked as they came off the net. The original plates which were on the car when I bought it were faded and broken (went though the MOT though ) so I replaced them, but didnt have the V5 at the time so no one would make me a set!

They are definately legal size etc though.

Spoken to BMW about it and they recon it should be OK. So will have to wait and see.

This may help?

MoT'd the Indy last month with a half size front plate. The examiner noted it on the comments section, but didn't fail it - also commented when I picked it up that the smaller front plate looked good on the car
