Ok not car related, but I knew you lot would come up with a quick answer when I need it!
I'm round my mates house tonight and helping with a bit of plumbing. I've always used soldered copper, never used pushfit or plastic - his
flat is new and a mix of copper and plastic pushfit.
Can a copper compression joint be placed over 15mm plastic pipe? Or will it crack or leak?
it can providing you use the correct insert
if the pipe is the grey stuff use a steel insert
if the pipe is white use a solid plastic insert
as a general rule that is
HTH
these are the ones they dont have the rubber seals on them

I don't believe so.
Even if you are using push fit joints you need to have special inserts to push inside the pipe to stop it collapsing and leaking, so I don't
think it will work with a regular compression joint.
Brilliant, thanks guys. Reliable as ever!
As an afterthought, we have a plastic compression joint. I assume this will join to copper pipe without a problem? I'm guessing the normal ptfe
tape will do to seal it?
Cheers!
4 x wraps of ptfe on the olive only!!!!!
this should do the trick

never seen a plastic compression fitting, do you mean a push fit?
