Is there anyone in the east midlands area who can solder a couple of transistors into my megasquirt unit? There are two transistors in the unit for
the fuel pump that were soldered in so that some of the pins touched, so my fuel pump is always on, it doesn't prime like it should. I don't
have the gear or skill to do it
Nottingham, leicester, peterborough, lincs etc area
I could drive over one evening or whenever is convenient, would like this sorting as soon as poss really. Thanks for any helps chaps!
The gear isnt expensive really the main ting id removing the solder for this you require a suction pump, if you cant get any help locall check out the
maplind website you could probably pick up a cheap soldering kit for under £15.00 including the sucker. They are always handy to have around
I am a bit far away in Rotherham so sorry this is the only help I can offer
You could cut the solder where it is joining with a craft knife. I find solder wick is easy enough to use for small jobs.
its easier than it looks and as above the gears quite inexpensive, plus it will be very useful in the future. You need like a 15watt iron and a Solder
sucker
here's a how too, desoldering is near the bottom - linky
and a bit about transisters you should read first - linky

It's worth walking into the local Maplins and buying a soldering iron, solder and some desoldering wick - ask an assistant for advice.
We're not talking big money here.
If you're uncertain, take a look at the (reasonably cheap) Velleman kits in Maplins - see if there's one that takes your fancy and buy it.
Take it home, follow the (very good) instructions, solder it together and get it working. Once you've done that you'll tackle your more
valuable MS unit with some confidence.
I could do that for you but im at chesterfield its your call mate u2 u if you need it doing cheers Paul
when do you need it doing, when can you get into melton?
Got the required kit. Got several soldering irons of various sizes, im sure ive got a solder sucker somewhere but failing that got some desoldering
wick
Happy to do it for you. You'd need to post it down though, and I'm quite busy at the moment so might take me a week before I can get onto
it.
Your call!
