POOR BLOKE

prawnabie - 11/7/09 at 05:40 PM

bugger!

David Jenkins - 11/7/09 at 05:41 PM

Ooooh - nasty!

He's lost a wheel along the way too... that's going to cost a penny or two to fix...

StevieB - 11/7/09 at 05:42 PM

Bet he clambered out of that car in double time!

eccsmk - 11/7/09 at 05:42 PM

DOH!

Werner Van Loock - 11/7/09 at 05:46 PM

I think lucky bloke, if he hit the bridge or the tree head on that would've been a lot nastier. And he didn't submerge, I don't know how fast you can unbukle when under water in panic, but you might not

Ben_Copeland - 11/7/09 at 05:47 PM

Ahhh bit of polish. and a hair drier and it'll be fine

Guinness - 11/7/09 at 05:49 PM

Real shame. I think I read about it in Blatchat. He'd just rebuilt it / fitted a new engine too!

Mike

r1_pete - 11/7/09 at 05:50 PM

Oh eck, hope they're all ok.....
Must admit I expected to see something like this:
wet
wet

Stuart_B - 11/7/09 at 05:56 PM

wow, taht could have been even worse, but i still would not like to be there.

balidey - 11/7/09 at 05:56 PM

It wasn't the drivers fault, if you look along the road there is a sign that clearly says......

wait for it.....

Dip your headlights

thats a real shame, but as others have said it could have been a lot worse - for the car and driver! hopefully not too painful to rebuild again especially when considering he could have gone full on into the bridge or tree!

Richard Quinn - 11/7/09 at 06:33 PM

"When I said bear left at the bridge..."

i think he flooded the engine too.

Sorry for the rubbish jokes, but it looks like it could have been a lot worse, and we all like to lighten the mood. They are not meant to be hurtful to the driver (or should that be DIVER )

iank - 11/7/09 at 07:27 PM

The remains are up on ebay.
linky

no mention of its dip in the river!

Werner Van Loock - 11/7/09 at 08:59 PM

omfg

looks like they tried to pull it out using the rollbar, probably tearing the bar straight off, might even twisted the chassis then

Metal Hippy - 11/7/09 at 10:08 PM

If the roll bar does that with the weight of a car on it, then in a crash that rolls the car where the forces are a lot higher you might as well stand up and wave to the road with your face as have one fitted.

{Goes back into hiding before the flak...}

cloudy - 11/7/09 at 10:49 PM

Looks like a different crash to me...

eccsmk - 11/7/09 at 10:52 PM

Just checked the pictures on photobucket (link on blatchat) and they did pull it out on the rollbar, but the rollbar was still attached to the car when it was on the lorry, also there was less damage when it was on the lorry then there is now on Ebay, so don't know what happened afterwards

but I won't be payin that kind of money for some scrap metal. On Photobucket you can see clearly that the chassis is hit at the bottom, so +2k£ for a wet zetec, gearbox and english axle and a few small parts???

gaz_gaz - 12/7/09 at 08:03 AM

this kinda thing makes me feel ill.

being a non-swimmer and almost drowning playing on a tree swing over a river as a kid, i tend too steer clear of water unless its for drinking or bathing in.

everytime i go near a river now in my car i'll be breaking into cold sweats thinking about this thread

happy days

driver and passenger where very lucky though,

by the way..

the dip your headlights joke made me LOL

And a V5 + chassis plate. It's possible you will be able to get a new chassis from Arch motors for the right money and build yourself a legal caterham with no IVA required. Depends how much it goes for but you might be able to make the numbers work if rebuilding at home, but I bet you can get plenty of vital and expensive (at caterham prices) bits off it.
