Is there anyone in your area that knows anything about kitcars - I've found that a local person is the greatest value when first buying a KC, even if their KC knowldge is only about their own car!
Have a look in the "for sale" section here or pistonheads. Iirc most of the cars I've seen for sale they're asking for 4-6k, and at that top end they're looking like top quality work
