
Today it is 90 days since I was told I am redundant... also the plant consultancy period ends today.. seniors have been plotting behind closed doors
for 2 days now.. an announcement is pending...
My leaving date is 31st July but question is, am I entitled to my money now? or can they deduct the next 11 working days off my total?
3pm, The decision is.. CLOSURE! NSK Steering Systems will close Q2 2010 - 130 jobs wasted..

as it appears you have access to the net at work then if I were you I'd be using that to find a new job while getting paid to do so
Aye, that's right, however with Nissan paying of 1200 peeps just recently, lots of engineers and purchasing included, they are hoovering up all
the available jobs that are very few and far between here...
Unfortunately for me I do not have 'Nissan' on my CV
Was the 90 days your "consultancy period" or your "notice period"? If they're making more than 99 people redundant, they have
to have a 90 day consultation. At the end of that, people are given their notice (If your consultation ended today, then I'm presuming your
contractual notice period is 2 weeks?)
Redundancy payment is separate to any notice period etc....
The redundancy payment is tax free (or at least the first 30k or so is, anyhow) so should not be taken off your total.
It is, however, only paid when you do leave.
PS If your contractual notice period is more than 2 weeks, and the consultation period only ended today, then they should also be paying you for the
remainder of your notice period ("gardening leave). This isn't a tax-free payment.

Depending on what the deciders have decided, you should be able to have paid time off to search for a new job. If you decide to leave of your own
accord, before they release you, you may not be entitled to ANY redundo. Check!!
It's more usual for them to deduct the amount of days (taken before your leaving notice) from your final payout.

Have you not been advised to consult a lawyer over your redundancy terms? Pretty sure this is a legal requirement (and the company pay, not you)
Might be easier to find a friendly Doctor, cross his palm with silver, and get him to sign you off sick with stress?

I know a guy who lost his job at a university and was told he would be cut off from his severence pay if he found another job. I am very sure this is
illegal in our country.
HOWEVER, no need to tell the old employer if you find something else. There are ways of being paid that don't involve sending tax to HM right
away: ie. change the dates of work or bartering for goods.
Best of luck to you. It is no fun losing one's job. Things improve for the better though! Do not let them win.

arrangement with me as its killing me paying his wage and not having enough work.
Just as the economy looks like it might be recovering, the delayed effects of knocked confidence and unemployment will cripple it. Add a possible
pandemic of swine flu and people too scared to go to work, and we could be up **** creek!

Terry, you work there then? Was up there today picking a bad rack up...
I was told by one of the PQA guys that an engineer got 60K to go.. nutsack then??

I'm in the same boat, just on 90 days cunsultation, which ends on the 7th Sept. The factory I work at is closing but we are still producing
product till the end of Oct; they are been very vague about who is key workers and when they will let us leave. I've worked there for 20 years
