can you not ring the tax office and ask them if its true?

I had the same email and thought it was a con and forgot about it. The last time I had a tax refund (many years ago) they just sent me a cheque and I am sure it is still the same

i cant imagine they would email you and not send a letter through the post. But, it might be worth checking by calling your local tax office.

My mum and dad had the same thing and tried calling them, then noticed that the phone lines where open 7 days a week. Know one in the tax dept work 7 days a week so they called the proper tax office to discover that it was a con! (think it may have been a email not a letter but not 100% sure.

I had a tax refund earlier this year. Came through the post and looked like this, no emails at all.
