Rotating a mpeg file
smart51 - 25/7/09 at 09:20 PM

Is there a way of rotating an mpeg file through 90° so that it plays right. The footage was shot on a photo camera rather than a video camera and it was held in portrait rather than landscape. The result is that the picture is on its side. Software that comes with windows or freeware is best.

Mencoder will do it if you have a Linux machine handy.

mencoder -vf rotate=1 -o <input file> -oac copy -ovc lavc <output file>

...will probably do it for you. I've got Mencoder installed on a box on a gig line, so if you can upload it to some webspace somewhere, I can rotate it and send it back.
