Next door neighbour has a rattly timing chain in his nissan sunny.

he thinks he should change it - I say he should run it till it breaks then scrap the car

I said I would try and find out what changing it would involve - any one know?

Cheers

Mark

not a bad job to do but if i was him i would keep on running it,
all that happens is lack of power and will not idle that the norm

A B310 sunny? rwd with the A12/14/15 engine? piece of cake, can be done with the engine in and up on axle stands. Drop the sump off, pull the pulley and front cover, radiator is best out.
If chain very worn the tensioner can fall out with the spring and tensioner falling into the sump, bent valves etc.

If that's all that's wrong with it get it done... It'd be like scrapping a car cos it's not worth fitting new brakes...

I had a Sunny once, spent nearly £400 getting it through an MOT cos apart from that work there was absolutely nothing wrong with it and I wouldn't have got any better for that money
