poped into the local ford dealer as its near work, for a camshaft oil seal for a 2.0 o.h.c.
Not got one in stock but can get you one in a couple of days £13.60 +vat

No thanks i think i will get a full gasket set of e-bay for that.

What are they on?

they also probably don't stock them any more, so they've got to track down a supplier and order it in for you. this means they need to make money on what they pay for it too

i was at a renault dealer a few days ago picking up some parts and a guy got charged
84 quid for some wipers and a wing mirror glass

Dont have a go at the main dealers. Some people beg them to rape their wallets. All the dealers do is take the money in exchange for goods or services. Those in the know are savvy enough to go elsewhere for non-critical parts. Thats been the way for hundreds of years.

It does make your eyes water how much people pay for OE branded parts when premium aftermarket parts are often very similar (not always the same despite what GSF etc will tell you) and work perfectly fine.
