I have got wind of an elise that is a T reg.
Quick sale and it needs 'attention' any ideas on a ROUGH value.
I know its hard to say because if the engine is scrap or the heads ferked its going to cost some money but even to the nearest 1500 quid would be a
good start.
I can see good ones on auto trader that are anywhere between 6-7K.
Any advice appreciated too just incase i go and have a look at it!
I know about the head shuffle/ gasket issues. anything else?

If an old but good 'un is worth £6k, then I'd guess a car with issues is worth £4k??
£3.5k to a desperate owner.
Head gasket isn't that expensive to do, and if it's really knackered a lot of people have done engine swaps to Audi turbo lumps, or Honda
VTEC conversions.

It's so hard to say without more information, but even really tatty, but roadworthy ones fetch good money.
If the chassis is damaged then it will be virtually salvage value due to the difficulty and cost of repair. I wouldn't touch one with a long
barge pole.
Engine problems in an otherwise tidy car is absolutely the best outcome you could wish for, much cheaper and easier to fix than bodywork, suspension
or chassis issues! The cheapest Elise I've ever seen was a very rough looking one with a Cat C history, and that sold for ~£4700 IIRC.
theres one on the scrapyard by me thats been rolled but loads of parts are still good.

i wouldnt give more than 5k, as your buying a unknown really.
the only info i can get is this
" there is a sensor that knocks it down to 2 cylinders when you put your foot down - not good when your overtaking. Its something to do with the
timing i think"
Clearly not all that clued up but thats all i can get from them.
I wouldn't worry about the engine too much.
Satisfy yourself that the rest of the car is OK... chassis, brakes, suspension, body, etc. HPI it!!!
Then go in with a low offer on the basis that it WILL need a new engine... I would think market value less £1000-1500.

Old but good ones tend to go for nearer £8k, especially the later S1 cars (there's still a lot of people out there who prefer the S1 over the
S2's styling - they're all fools as the S2 is slightly lighter, slightly faster and far better built...)
If it needs attention then you might get it for 5-6k. Ultimately there are plenty of K series ngines around so a replacement is not too hard to find.
In fact, if it needed replacement you could always stick a VVC in it instead, unless you fancy spending a lot more and going down the Type R route 
£1500 is my guess
