i think thats the least of your problems, you appear to have a hole in your block

Stack of washers is the locost solution.

That would be right up flakmoney's street - which reminds me I need to get my engine breather off to him for some machining work

I've got that already, it just looks sh**, it's one of those little things that need doing that you never seem to get around to

I've just Gripfilled a clear perspex sheet over it so you can see the internals moving, it looks really cool but looses a bit of oil when warm.

I'll make you one if you like?

14.5mm long
10.5mm bore
20mm OD?

U2U me if interested and we can sort something out.

Cheers,
David

that M10 bolt is the only one that holds the alternator rigidly -the other end is the adjuser which is usually relativley flimsy slotted plate.

So make the spacer as large a diameter as poss providing it fit - the boss on the alternator is machined so measure that but 20 mm sounds about right.

internal bore 10 mm - use 10 mm drill, M10 bolt will slip through that.

Engineering spec for clearance hole for M10 is 10.25mm to 10.5mm

Which is probably about what you get with a hand held drill and a 10mm bit

Lol, true, but not if the holes drilled with a decent machine
