O/T Does anyone know about fridge freezers?
Danozeman - 21/8/09 at 03:01 PM

My freezer isnt freezing aswell as it should. Im thinking the door seal isnt holding tight enough so im going to replace that. But does anyone know if there is a thermostat for the freezer or is it just in the fridge bit?

Its a Beko cda751f. Its only a year and a half old. Everythings frozen but not aswell as it should be. And if we put icecream or bread in its soft.

is it plugged in?

Hmmn, our old freezer had similar symptoms when the heating element for the "self defrost" burned out. It allowed the coils to ice up into a solid block which stopped the unit from cooling properly. If there is an access panel on the inside of the unit, pop it off (mine was held in with a dozen or so self tappers) and have a look. You can check the heating loop for continuity with a multimeter.

Cheers, Ted

Defrost it (get eating by the sounds of it!), and when you plug it back in, make sure the back of the unit is not pushed against anything - this makes them run hotter.

Does it have a light?

Over time our door dropped enough to just miss the push-off switch, so the light was left on. It heated the interior enough to waste the food!

Off to not hear trees falling in the woods now!

i used to work for comet back in the days of my youth. bekos are the worst make on the face of the earth. your lucky it lasted a year most come back within 6-8months.

it will prob have one stat only that controls the temp of both the fridge and freezer. turn the stat up on the fridge and the freezer will get colder. its a bit of a compramise as if you make the fridge too cold everything in the fridge freezes also.

if its frost free take the cover off at the top of the freezer some times you get ice particles on the fan which stops the circulation and makes it look like its not freezing and starting to defrost.

and put a thermometer in it to see what temp it really is at

Its not frozen up so i have no excuse for eating all the food in there!!

Ill pull it apart and c if theres a cover in there.
