They just don't bloody exist on these cars.

Went out yesterday morning to fit fuel pump/filter properly, maybe an hour's work give or take.

During that I noticed;

A bit of rust on the frame near the diff.
Realised riveting the lines in will be a bastard while the propshaft's in.
Rust on the rear drum backplates.
Bit of peeling paint on the rear wishbones.


... Bollox.

Yeh but when you've got all those bits off the car you can get a serious case of upgrade-itis

Mostly the upgraditis is directed at the front of the car, the rear stuff is all fine (though I could do with some nicer shocks...)

Got it all apart, and piled up in a box to take to the powdercoater

The latest 'small' job i have done was to bleed the clutch. Its taken about 10 hours so far in total, brake fluid over a load of the rails which has taken the paint off and its still not working properly

Just get it built man! Stop worrying about all these cosmetics, unless you are building a trailer queen!

I spent ages wire brushing and painting all my donor parts and now 6,000 miles and 3 1/2 years of use later, they are all a bit rusty.

And I wouldn't worry about your powder coat, it'll flake off at the first sign of a stonechip!

tbh, I'm not massively concerned about cosmetics, but the paint on there is terrible (another layer was damn near thrown on to protect from rust, loadsa cat hair in there), removing it and repainting is more hassle than I can be arsed with.

I'd rather worry about the important stuff like getting the whole thing together and working. and let some other bugger worry about making bits pretty
