looks like we probably need a replacement ignition box for the fiat strada abarth......
these are like rocking horse poop and I can get megajolt for a lot less than a rebuilt marelli digiplex unit.........
Anybody know if megajolt can be run independent of edis and used with a one or two tooth trigger wheel (the std one on the fiat is two tooth)
I know the early emerald systems used a single or two tooth trigger, and I know its goign back to the dark ages but it would save time and hassle if
it is possible.
Basically I need an ecu (cheap! ) which will read a VR sensor input with 2 crank trigger teeth 180 deg apart for rpm and trigger points, plus have a
map input for load.............
any ideas??
Can you add a more normal 36/1 trigger wheel somewhere?
I'm not saying the fiat strada abarth is abnormal by the way......!
Like here
could do, will be the last resort, just trying to avoid spending too much time and effort correcting a poxy italian ignition ecu that has REALLY
annoyed us for several days now!!!
If it comes to it then we'll fit the full megajolt setup with trigger wheel etc, but its then getting close to spending the £170 to get the
marelli box rebuilt!

Nat,
I don't know if you have any details on the Digiplex system, but I've found an extract from a Magneti Marreli manual (in French) that shows
the maps that the Ritmo 130TC system is programmed with (assume Strada is the same?). If nothing else it would mean you could easily put the map into
an aftermarket system.
It also shows that it uses two crank sensors; a TDC sensor (2 pulses/rev) and a separate speed sensor (134 pulses/rev).
Give me your email and I'll ping you a copy if you want it.
EDIT:
Just noticed the MAP sensor is called a "Detecteur de depression" in French...I reckon they probably suffer from overload by Italian car
owners

Have you checked all the cables? I had an ignition problem on my old Strada and it was a damaged signal cable that goes across the bulkhead.
As far as i know the megajolt will only work in conjuction with an Edis unit, which initself will only work witha 36-1 wheel.
However if you really want to know, ask on the autolabs megajolt forum and wait for brent to tell you firsthand.
