cd mixing off topic sorry

Hi all i know its nothing to do with cars but ive searched the net and cant find any help really and know you lot can answer everything.
Im really interested in getting some cd decks and mixer equipment just for abit of a mess around on at home but know nothing about it ive looked for
forums but cant find any good ones is there one any of you use.
Also are there any tips you would give to a novice when choosing the decks and mixers

i'm old skool 
i only use vinyl, never really liked CD, but thats a personal thing. and, because of that i can't recommend any cd decks
get yourself to www.trance.nu even if you're not really into trance, but theres a whole load of info on there for producing, mixing, choosing
equipment, etc
its a forum, with people all over the world on it. ask on there and you'll get some great help
the only real tip i can give on buying any decks is, get the best you can afford. i went straight in to buy technics 1210s and never looked back 
good luck, its brilliant fun when you get it right. its not easy at first though, so keep at it

some of my friends DJ at upper level, but none of them really use CD decks, all vinyl based.
However, they always said to me (when I showed an interest and went about getting my own equipment) that you pay for what you get. Cheap stuff is
cheap and nasty, you're better saving your pennies and waiting a touch longer.
In terms of record players, Technics made some brilliant kit, mainly the SL1210's, so I'm gonna say they're a good name to look for.
Numark is also a partly-respectable company, usually offering bundle/package deals. If you're new to the game and fancy having a mess around,
maybe try them?

Someone else beat me to it re. Technics!
Maybe go buy MixMag or similar and see if there's any companies in the back pages offering any deals? Have a chat with them and see what they
suggest.....

yeah i get the feeling alot of people prefer vinyl but i aint got any so it would mean i could use none of my cd collection so thats the only reason
im going for cds
Im into funky house music i'll have a look on that forum and see what they suggest cheers for the help

Hi adam, vinyl is oldskool now, youre not wrong for wanted to use cd mixers.
I've got a mate looking into them at the minute, hes got his heart set on some £POA pioneers, but I think thats going to end in disaster!
A lot of fidget and more tech-y DJs use them in Nottingham, and thats very mashup orientated so I cant see any obvious issues with CD mixing funky
house.

im not really looking for a new set with them being a first set im looking on ebay then if i enjoy it i can always invest more later i like the look
of the numark axis 9 decks and similar and think i will wait till i see a set at the right price i didnt relise how expensive these things are

just at home. i've played out a few times but that was about 4 years ago. really want to get properly into it and make some money off it. but i
bought my technics decks about 8 years ago now. they were 2nd hand then, and they're still going strong

if you want CDs with a vinyl 'feel' theres some with a jog wheel on them. i think its pioneer or technics have a spinning wheel on top which
you can get hold of for queing, scratching etc. they're not cheap

I've used
these decks before and for the money they're fantastic.
Mixing CD's is odd - took me quite a few dedicated hours to get used to it. Those Pioneers really helped though - dead easy to use and worked
really well. Only used a cheap mixer with them but had quality results.
Maplins job isn't what you want or need - I'd stick with Pioneer or Technics.
Good luck with it - Wish I still had access to the decks to continue myself!
