I want a new car that is fun to drive, quick, doesn't attract attention, can tow the MK and can carry a family in comfort. I had a scooby untill
this morning, and don't fancy another due the style of theft!! I car that is economical would be nice aswell!!!

quick and economical can be mutually exclusive to some extent!
as i always say, get a 406 v6. no one really knows them, no one wants them, so they're cheap as ships. but they fit most of the requirements, and
might get 25mpg average urban. but watch engine mounts if towing loads, they are chocolate...
Try a saab 9-5 aero 220bhp about 30 mpg, my mate got one recently W reg 80k all leather, climate etc 6k from auction. If you don't want to spend
that much you can get the 9000 with 200bhp for about 2.5k another mate has a 1996 model with 220k on the clock and it still goes like stink. Also I
think they have about one of the best towing capacities.

Was thinking of an audi quattro before this happened anyway, but after seeing all the audi's in the recovery pound i'm a bit put off. I like the idea of a saab, but espeially the pug as no one knows about them. The 406 coupes look well tidy, do they still make them?? Or do they attract too much attention, maybe better with a 4 door 406 pug?
most understated, never get nicked car I had for a while was a cavalier v6. 145 mph and 0-60 in 7.5. It looked like any other cavalier.
My mate at work has had his scoobie for about 2 months now. My opinion hasnt changed. The interior is shamed by the new indian built cityrover, and as
a passenger, I dont find the 0-60 in 5.7 that awesome. I suppose its different behind the wheel. The corenring seems awesome tho.
The 4wd wasnt that useful in the snow we had 6 weeks back - cos all the cars in front still blocked the road off and it took him 7 hrs to do 30 miles
home, just as it did me in my rwd bmw

Shame, he has just started off in married life (he'll learn 
), just about to pay his first mortgage payment, his new mrs has already told him
he has to sell all his batchelor toys! Deranged Rover, Blackbird, Jag XJ6 have all gone, just hasn't moved the Quatty yet. Poor sod!!! 
Just remembered that in company tax law that a classic car does not attract any tax contribution, if any 20 year old car can do 20K per year, its a Quatty

200bhp!
really comfortable, and even though 3 yrs old, drives like new, well screwed together.
with no t4 sticker on the back, whos going to nick one of these ?

Although biased, if you want to tow, you don't want a front-driver. Traction control doesn't give extra traction. They never win 'Tow
Car Of The Year' do they? Rear or 4 is your best way.
Omega's are huge, cheap, rear-drive and undesirable (to 'those sort' anyway). Unfortunately, they're only German build quality
which is no match for the Japs. (See various previous threads). New Omega's out next year and they're sticking with RWD. The 2.5 diesel is
the BMW straight six from the 325/525.
There are various dull 4WD German motors. The same gubbins with different suits.
There's also the normally aspirated Subaru Legacy's. Unbelievabley reliable, spacious, not particularly quick and the bad guys tend to
overlook them.

I agree, Simon and cheap as you like at 3 years old. That's 2 of us that like them, no-one else seems to.
no no, i like the 75 myself! i used to see them at the auction and they always looked sturdy and comfey. But, it a rover, so for now i'll avoid
it!
BTW, my next intended car is a primera diesel, around 97/98 vintage. great cars...
Volvo 850R saloon, 250bhp and a big old tank of a car with lots of airbags.
Personally, it would have to be XJR, but pricy to buy and even worce on fuel (16mpg - if you dont put your foot down). Best alternative XJ8 (my
everyday car ), 300bhp, adaptive suspension, tow anything, and still 22-24mpg in mixed & 30 on a run!!!!

the hot ones. attracts less attention unless you get an m3 with a bodykit!

those with an eye can spot the difference with unbadged beemers. For instance, lowly models dont have chrome door surrounds, and the bigger engines
can be ID'd by the exhaust pipe configuration....
