Winter mods???
prawnabie - 1/10/09 at 06:06 PM

Driving to work today on leaf covered roads make me thing of planning the next round of winter mods. What are you planning?

Myself I will be installed a higher pressure oil pump, remote filter and an oil cooler. I am also going to change the headgasket and re-plumb the cooling system with a header tank.

Finishing the supercharged Duratec install once all my parts arrive

Making my new garage water tight and relatively dust free.

Lots of DIY on the flat.

chris_smith - 1/10/09 at 06:11 PM

engine upgrade from xflow to zetec, and complete new paint job and hopefully smaller headlights, chassis to be stripped and re painted too

how long is winter????

Doing all the post-SVA things I never got round to doing when I passed 3 years ago would be a start!

Then there's the interior that needs re-doing, the dash need re-doing or atleast re-inforcing.

Test the new radiator setup.

Sort the leaky filler neck hose (turns out the fuel resistant hose bought at great expense wasn't :mad

Setup the suspension properly front and rear.

Raise the rear wheel arches.

Fit the 3rd brake light

Fit fire extinguisher

Get the new seats/sliders in properly.

Probably a few things more.

Cheers,
James

Engine swap

rewire the engine

make some new parts including a bonnet scoop and new bulk head from carbon.

and with alot of luck I would love to make use of the 3.38 diff thats been sat in the shed for some time.

BenB - 1/10/09 at 07:02 PM

Finish the soft-top
Make up an EFi plenum with injectors (MIG ali tack welds then off somewhere for some TIG)
Get an adaptor made up to mount the new pulley wheel onto the crank pulley.
Whip the Honda ECU stock spark map (ie using a timing card and strobe)
Put above spark map into Emerald as a base map
Get the Innovate LC1 onto the car (on the exhaust without the leak at the headers!!)
Sort out fuelling
Maximise maps for POWER

That's enough for one winter

Though ideally I'd also like to get the dry sump conversion done and dusted...

.... and the blower cradle added....

New dash, rose jointing all the backend

Gearbox and diff rebuild for mine spent most of the summer nursing a poorly gearbox through to winter.

Just hope it lasts this month out and doesn't explode must resist from turning the boost controller back up

omega0684 - 1/10/09 at 07:23 PM

engine rebuild (almost done), ali panels to be replaced with carbon fibre, fit bonnet scoop. maybe do carbon fibre dash change over, detachable steering wheel. and need to get carbon fibre arm rests and half doors made. im sure that there are loads of other things but i can't remember everything!

oh i forgot i have air box to do as well!

and i want to fit a hydrolic clutch

its a never ending list!

Does a first drive count as a winter mod?

Do have some plans, all cosmetic stuff, but depend on money.

Full new glassfibre body kit, sprayed, graphics kit, dash panel, cycle wings, digi dash, tunnel top, interior panels and new harnesses.

Big job, so might leave it till I can face it/have money/have time/have made up with the wife for all the hours I've been in the garage over the last few years!

nick205 - 1/10/09 at 08:19 PM

Well I have someone coming to view the Indy this weekend so it may be gone soon

If it stays then winter work will include...

1. Fit a 12V power socket under the dash

2. Make and fit a boot box to go under the lockable cover

3. Fit some protection film on the rear arches

4. Make and fit some front mud flaps

5. ooo! Hydraulic clutch - now there's a thought!

Failing that I'll be busy stripping my new donor and refurbing the parts ready for the next project

yellow melos - 1/10/09 at 08:43 PM

I will be swapping a 4 wheeled car for a 3 wheeled bike... well.. hopefully

Davey D - 1/10/09 at 08:48 PM

for me its something like this:

1) fit new seat mounts/remove sliding rails
2) buy new seats to fit to uprated seat mounts
3) fit some new carbon parts
4) get some race livery stikers
5) remove the parts where the crappy powdercoat has flaked off, blast them, and repaint
6) Fit air induction box, and cool air feed pipe
7) fit Oil Pressure + temp Gauges
8) remove the diff, and get it checked over/rebuilt, as im sure its noisier than it used to be

As for mine.....

Make a new bonnet bulge

Paint the whole car.....

Sort out rear exit exhausts......somehow

Swap the whiney gearbox for the spare thats been sat in the shad for 18 months.....

blakep82 - 2/10/09 at 12:39 AM

mods? still got to finish the first round of the car

Gergely - 2/10/09 at 04:46 AM

1. Fit gear indicator
2. Fit Flatshifter kit

But winter begins in two months, until then we have to have our intake valves replaced, the Power Commander mapped on a rolling road session and test drive the car on a track...
Gergely

iank - 2/10/09 at 06:29 AM

Use mine all year round normally but this winter I'm stripping it to get the chassis shot blasted and painted due to rubbish powder coating.

Stuart_B - 3/10/09 at 05:54 AM

i am taking the pinto out fitting a durtec, and chaning the diff, rear half shafts and rear brakes to disc.

scutter - 16/11/09 at 05:26 PM

Well the old girl went for her upgrades this afternoon,

R88's and 13"minilites with CSR front wings.
V6 capri gearbox,
Koln to atlas axle swap
Triton seats
Possible dash swap, no digi dash purchased yet tho!
907 can fitment.

Fix the pheasant strike to the nose cone and get a load of powdercoating done.

Don't know what i'm doing next week and no the VTEC isn't going in, it's for a mates mini.
