i need to sound insulate a waste pipe (poo pipe)
I have heard that covering in lead and surrounding with polystyrene is a good way, the pipe is behind half inch ply already but it is quite loud when
toilet is flushed.
Anyone have any experience with this, or know a better way?

move house ??
no!!
its for 2 flats which we own and due to refurbishment and changing of the internal layout of the building, one flats poo pipe runs through the other
flat(along with its own as well)
how about boxing in the pipe and lining the inside of the box with egg boxes...
if you get my drift
Go upstairs, say your toilet is broken and hope they don't notice you taking in a bucket of something or other to block their part of the pipe...
Changing the soil stack to cast iron is the accepted solution assuming yours is plastic.
Either that or pack it in loft insulation and double skin it in plasterboard, that usually reduces the noise quite well.
Ray..
Call it an indoor water feature and up the rent accordingly.
Replace it with clear plastic pipe and let it to toilet fetishists?

Pack around the pipe in the pipe chase with some heavy insulation like the stuff you insulate attics with. That's what i did with mine and it works.
