i have got a dish and a spare box if you want to offer me a couple of pennies.

all you have to do is mount the dish on a pole/tripod and move it round until you get a signal

Absolutely no problem at all.
I always take my Sky box on my holls to the south of France to watch my fav programs
I do use a slightly larger dish that far South though

Cheapest way to get SKY into your caravan is get a tin opener and cut a big hole in the roof! bingo free sky

I took a dish and freesat receiver to the west coast of France this year and it was excellent! The easiest way of setting it up is to copy the alignment of somebody who has theirs working already!

Go to Skye in a caravan and take books

if you have a second box without multiroom, you'll only get the basic Sky packages (Sky1, Discovery etc) if you swap the card over, as the card is coded to the box.
i.e. you won't get Sky movies and Sports.
Only way to get everything is to take the matched Box and Card together.

The Aldi set up isn't Sky, it just gets you the basic freeview channels (or loads of German channels if thats what your into), although with better reception than an aerial.

Hi Mate thankyou for the offer but you live a bit to far away to get it
I will have a look around the Hull area for one Graham

be careful,

the new card are paired to the sky box, so won;t work with any other box ,

we have a main sky and multiroom, and can;t even swap cards between boxes

Not exactly sure if that is correct.
I don't have sky films or sport.
but got all the other channels.
the card works in both my boxes

I used to take my sky+ system in the caravan. Just use the on board signal level meter on the box to find a good signal. It would be worth you getting a compass with directions marked on for the satalites, makes it a lot easier to set up when you know roughly which direction to point the dish.

Lots of (English) vans had sky on the site in France I was at. Those without motorised dishes seemed to spend a good 30mins on average getting a picture each night.
Waste of good red-wine drinking time IMO.

I bought a 12v Freeview box off Ebay and it works OK in the house but I havn't tried it in the Bongo Bus yet. It came with a little stumpy mag mount aerial. Would this be ok for use in a caravan? It only cost £20 IIRC so if it can get all the freeview stuff, like it sdoes indoors, then it may be a cheaper easier way to watch telly....

Get a freesat box they aint much nowadays, sky boxes and cards are paired.
You'll get less channels than Freeview or freesat if you just use a Sky box without a card.
There used to be a free to air card for a skybox they were about a tenner but I dont know if they are still supplied, they need the number under your Skybox to pair the card.
Cheers,
Bob
Edit. Free to air cards are still available £20 by the time you factor in a s/h skybox you might as well have a new freesat box for £40 odd squids.

Freesat and Freeview satellite are not the same thing I found out. Freesat has an 8 day programme guide and freeview satellite only shows now and next. I recently put a freeview box in at home and found dishpointer and a compass to be the easiest way to locate a satellite. Put your location and choose which sats you want. I am on Astra 2D and Eurobird 1 and it picks them both up as they are very close together. A terrestrial box will only work if you have a clear line of sight to the transmitter, any hills, trees or buildings will cut your signal.
