Gift idea's
speedyxjs - 18/12/09 at 05:27 PM

I need some idea's for gifts for my dad for either his birthday or christmas (i have brought him a book about solar power so that would work for either)

He doesnt have any hobbies as such but he does like gardening and he is interested in solar power.

Budget is up to £20 and i would need it by christmas as his birthday is 28th dec.

My old man likes his gadgets, for his birthday (15th) I bought him a weather station, nothing to high tech, wind speed, direction, rain fall that sort of thing, loved it.

I got my old man a subscription to national geographic £15 for the year with free national geographic fleece and i've bought everyone in the family a tree! with forest of bradford but i think similar schemes are happening all over the uk. you can plant it yourself if you want but they look after it for 3 years to make sure it grows. doing our bit for the environment

someone - B&Q/Homebase was selling a solarpowered plant pot base - i.e. you plonk yer plant on top and it turns it round so the plant gets even lighting.

That sounds like a good one. Do you remember who it was? (tried B&Q and Homebase site but cant find it)

I found some good books in WH Smith and Sussex Stationers on self-sufficiency, renewable energy and small holdings for my "Good Life" wannabee sister.
