X Box packages??
Richard Quinn - 18/12/09 at 07:26 PM

Who's got the best value X Box packages at the moment please (high street only, not online / mail order)?
Thanks in advance

Asda and Tesco seem to have some good offers on.

If you get a package with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 in, apparently it now comes with a whole load of cheats to make it more realistic!!!

Have a look on hotUKdeals , "XBOX 360 ELITE 120GB 2 GAMES £169.99 @ MORRISONS"

I saw Xbox Elite in HMV for £170 today. Not sure what was included but their website will tell you.

Someone else ;-) As suggested above; "specified by a little one" (the 20yo little one)

Game is doing a deal for the console, 2 controllers and a game ( pure/batman ) for £130. Just make sure its the 120gb x box elite console which is the latest one out. Also you might want to buy a hdmi cable ( £6 from the bay), this will give a much clearer picture when using a hd tv.

I've got a PS3 and a '360.

TBH the PS3 bareley ever gets used, any games on both platforms are generally better on the 360 and there isn't much uniqie to the PS3 worth writing home about (very dissapointed by MGS, Killzone 2 is very nice but too many levels are just Gears of War copies).

As for HDMI vs Component. There is almost no difference on most TVs, just more convenient.

Did you set up your x box for hd? As soon as i set mine up using the hdmi cable the graphics became alot sharper than when i was using the component plugs

I'm enjoying my ps3 more than the xbox ,,,also i didn't like the idea of paying £40 a year just to play online .Spend £80 more for a ps3 and you have a blu ray player . also i was already on my 2nd xbox and my brother is on his third . A friend owns a computer shop that repairs consoles and he has a lot more xboxes in for repair than ps3's..and with the ps3 its seems that its just the lazer that fails and with the xbox it seems that everything fails and doesnt seem up to the job for prolonged use .With the ps3 you can browse the Internet ,watch 1000's of music videos for free and play online for free ..I've only had mine for a few weeks and already I've become a fan ..bring on gt 5 woohoo

I run mine in 720p via component (my TV doesn't do 1080p). Its a lot better than standard def, but the image quality from component is very good anyway.

I paid about 25 quid for 13 months live subscription last time (generally about £30 a year). I'm finding PS3 on line play too flakey, the quality of on line play is just too random, but then its free so you have to expect that. Unfortunatly not being able to play a couple of games for 3 weeks as they wouldn't start without a patch that failed to complete each time did pee me off a bit.

The failing '360s is an old story now, they have been swapping them out. I've been through 2 both under the 3 yr warranty.

Browsing on the PS3 but a game console trying to do on line just doesn't work that well due to resolution rather than the console (the wii isn't any better).

I'm quite looking forward to GT5 to see what its like, I refuse to buy the £20 "demo" that they released, its not like you even get a rebate against the final version.

I'm still struggling to find anything decent for the PS3 to play. I've got time crisis 4 but thats it. Each game I've tried is either on the '360 and in most cases plays better or has not realy interested me.

I've been running yellow dog linux on my PS3 which is really good for MAME but not much else sadly (256meg is just not enough memory, they video memory is not used).

I think given a couple of more years it should improve hopefully.

It seems that on a forum as far away from gaming as this, the fanboys are still lurking around the corner!

We don't really care if you like the xbox over the ps3 or vice versa, the aim of this post was to find the cheapest high street XBOX.

We bought an Elite on a deal from Argos where we got a couple of free games and an extra controller. Currently the Game deal looks about the best. The Elite comes with the cable by the way - at least mine did.

Just a technicality but I was after the best VALUE package, not necessarily the cheapest
