I have a tv that i can connect a usb stick into. The tv has built in divx, so the file would run directly on the tv.
I am sick of having to copy movies etc onto it, my computer is close to the tv.
Does anyone know of a usb cable/software that will let me connect the tv to the computer and i can set what folder on the computer is seen by the
tv...
Hopefully you understand what i am trying to say

If you have DVI on the pc, you can use a DVI to HDMI connection although you would need to do somet about the sound.
That would allow you to see the pc screen through the tv - some tvs already have a VGA/DVI connection on them.
Other than that you will need a HDD enclosure with a HDMI output on it.

thats the issue the sound.. i just really wanted 1 cable running through the wall, monitor cables are thick.
also with the tv i can pause etc from the remote instead of getting up to go to the computer
, when watching stuff via the usb port
Basic short answer is no. USB works on a master/slave basis. Your computer and the TV are both masters and external drives are slaves. You can hack
some USB controllers around and switch them over, but it is not trivial.
Your probably better off with a large external HDD plugged into the TV and every now and then plug it back into the PC to update it.
USB Switcher with external hard drive. when you want to watch telly, just press the button...

hi
i,ve been using my memory stick for copying movies to watch on the tv, biggest problem i've had is any movies over 700mb (hd style movies) tend
to stutter when the action gets going
so just got an xbox and stream movies from the pc that way, works fine
USB device emulators are available for PCs, but are typically used for developing/debugging USB peripherals are not mainstream products (and as such
very expensive).
A USB/USB network link would not work in this instance, they typically require proprietary drivers/software at each end of the link.

An option is Popcorn Hour, it's networked to your PC via a standard LAN cable, then uses HDMI cable to your telly. It will play movies in every
format (including BluRay/MKV with full digital sound) from your PC to your TV. I love mine, use it almost every day, good interface and very easy to
use once set up (which is a bit tricky). Then you can watch anything you can find/download from the internet.
