get a very cheap car charger and a 7812 12v voltage regulator and lash them up with a pair of croc clips onto the battery

hi sorry enough post.

maplin have the regulator here

and then i thought i could get a usb plug, so i can use the same lead which i use to go from computer to ipod with one off these, 1 or maybe 2

is that possible? if so what do i need to connet it to? as there are 4pins on the usb, but i am only going to have postive and negative, or is there anothe compeont that i will need?

Err, usb cable? Thats how I charge mine.

ashg - 1/1/10 at 07:19 PM

just buy a usb car charger that workes on 12/24 volts

you then just plug your ipod usb cable into it simples.

ashg - 1/1/10 at 07:25 PM

something like this will work from 12 up to 24 volts

click

just stick some wires on the ends and connect it to the 18v battery or charge the ipod in the car

As said, any decent car charger.
- Get one suitable for a 24v truck and job done. I imagine most are ok on 18v but some might only be suitable for about 14-15v if for car use?
