and the time, and the space, and the equipment, and knowing what materials to get ahead of time, not to mention the ventilation! I know where to get an airbrush gun for cheap, and that's where it ends for me.

i'd be a bit funny about doing anything with helmets. they always say don't put any stickers on them and stuff. i'd be wary of weakening it. but just about every racing driver has them done!
its knowing whats safe to do it with i think

The problem used to be people spraying cheap plastic helmets with aerosols designed to touch up or paint cars(metal) and the solvents in the paint reacting with the plastic. I had my bike helmet painted to match my bike but it was a shoei fibreglass and caused no problems. keith...

p.s. the glue in the stickers could, it was thought, also have the same effect, I believe...

Not impressed. Computer generated stencils and an air brush.
Back in the day, the likes of Ed Roth would have done all that pin striping and lining with a brush.
Now that's skill.

I would struggle to get a sticker straight, nevermind airbrushing!

I admire his skill - but I don't think much of the result...

...there was thread a few months back that showed some amazing helmet art (including Valentino Rossi's "screaming face"!).

I can appreciate what you're saying. The results still impress me - especially Roth or Von Dutch, but also the guys using masks / stencils. It always seems so easy, but the amount of prep required, the attention to detail and the scope to get it wrong are large. I know that I have neither the skill nor materials.

I'd agree with David though - Rossi's was brilliant.
