Another stressed Dad...
UncleFista - 8/2/10 at 08:50 PM

I'm s*****g bricks at the moment, my missus has been in hospital for the last couple of weeks waiting for our baby to be ready to be born.
'cos the baby is transverse (like he's lying in a hammock) instead of being "head down" she needs to be within 10 minutes of an operating theatre for a Caesarian.

Anyway, she's booked in for the morning and I'm crapping myself[1] It's been a fair old while since the last one and I'm feeling my age (40 !).

Please keep your fingers crossed for the new member of our family, to add to his 2 brothers at 17 yrs and 8 yrs (we like to leave a gap !)

This is absolutely the last one, I'm booked in at the docs for my plums unplumbing, don't tell me any stories you might have heard, I'd rather find out myself

I'll update tomorrow as and when

I just needed to "unload" I'm missing my missus to talk to, we've never been apart so long.

[1] Dunno why, natural labour has to be worse than a C-section, I'm still psychologically scarred from the last one..

koiking125 - 8/2/10 at 09:00 PM

Good luck to you both hope it all goes well. Plums

Miks15 - 8/2/10 at 09:02 PM

good luck to you and the missus, hope all goes well for the both you

skinned knuckles - 8/2/10 at 09:02 PM

keeping fingers crossed for you, i know what you are going through and can sympathise completely. dads are complete spectators in these things and i felt like a spare part during the birth of both my girls. one was text book and the other was an awkward bugger, and has been for the 2 years following birth

when noobie arrives, we expect photo's andn understand if no posts for a while

best of luck mate. and have your nuts done, best thing i ever did. swmbo has gone through so much more discomfort than me, it was the least i could do

do you know what your having?

have to admit, i'm a little bit envious of your iminent arrival. at the same time i'm glad i don't have to go through it all again. ( my youngest is just coming out of nappies)

all the best

SN

I thought that in my head but thought "nah, nobody will actually say it, right? huh?"

GMPMotorsport - 8/2/10 at 09:18 PM

Good luck, hope all goes well, oh those sleepless nights, joy.

Fozzie - 8/2/10 at 09:20 PM

Well done you for going for the 'snip' ....

Best wishes to you both for tomorrow morning...

My third was a 'prem' breech, luckily I had an 'old school' midwife taking charge, as the doctor couldn't get herself out of bed in time... 5.30am .... so, too late for a 'ceasar' ... he wouldn't wait ... and he is still an impatient little wotsit!

I know it seems a bit rough on you, as you can't do anything, but it really is better for both of them ...

Let us know how all of you are when you can...

ATB Fozzie

Steve Hignett - 8/2/10 at 10:00 PM

Best of luck for the morning...

Surely (nowadays) there's a way that "the snip" can be done to guarantee no pain/swelling etc?

I need to get it done in the next two months and I really can't face it - every one I speak to about it has unpleasant things to say

austin man - 8/2/10 at 10:05 PM

not gonna tell you how painfull the dreaded Vasectomy is but have you ever clamped the skin on your palm with the mole grips ?? if you have thats just like being tickled in comparison LOL

Confused but excited. - 8/2/10 at 10:27 PM

Best wishes to you both.
I'll keep everything crossed in the morning.

kendo - 8/2/10 at 10:33 PM

Both of my kids came out the sunroof and both are absolutely fine. First was emergency the second planned so that there wasn't an emergency.

Just takes time to heal which is when you stop being a spare part and become essential.

Good luck to you both.

mate, chill out. the worst bit was the injection to numb you. the rest of the op you can't feel apart from a bit of pulling here and there. the next day isn't great but a bit of normal over the counter pain killers takes care of that. after that its complete downhill sailing.

where you there when your kids popped out? believe me, what you will go through is nothing any where near what swmbo went through.

get it done, then sleep easy knowing that no more offsprping will be headong your way. ( also a good way of scoring points with swmbo)

omega 24 v6 - 8/2/10 at 10:59 PM

Best of luck from the other stressed dad.
I hope it all goes smoothly.

eddie99 - 8/2/10 at 11:10 PM

Best of luck to you both!!!!

splitrivet - 9/2/10 at 12:07 AM

Dont worry everything will be fine, this time tomorrow you'll be the proud dad of a new babooshka. As for having your nuts nicked a visit to the dentist is scarier and more painful
Good luck to you and the missus.
Cheers,
Bob

Congrats mate, better get down toys r us and buy a scalextric, thats what i did a couple of days after my boy was born
They are never too young for cars.

UncleFista - 14/2/10 at 10:45 AM

Mother and baby doing really well, the missus was discharged just over 48 hours after a c-section, she's a trooper

Baby is perfection, Harrison Lee Bond ('arry) My brother RoadkillUK pointed out that having 2 boys now it's like the Bond brothers Mk2, so as my 8yr-old has my middle name, the new one should have his

I just need a few more hours adding to the day so I can get a bit of sleep, Helen keeps trying to do stuff, but I keep stopping her, she not meant to do anything strenuous for 6 weeks

Life is good

I have to leave them alone for a couple of hours later to pick up a new Zetec, so life's not ended quite yet

Thanks to everyone for the supportive comments and the general sense of real community on this here website. I really think of LBs as a community, cheers
