Yes, I know/knew it very well

bob - 22/8/02 at 01:13 PM

Bob, I'm glad you're taking this seriously! This is fun.
OK, more clues.
The picture was taken about 1984/5. The car was a kit and sold about 20, and yes I did build it. It had a road test feature in Kit-Car at around that time.
If anyone does have the back-issue with the test, I'd appreciate a scan of it

How did you do a search? I thought that kind of info could only be got from the police or the dvla with a really good reason.

Id be interested cos id like to look for my old vehicles.

No, never knew or met SQ, and I took the picture.
No one got any mid-eighties Kit-car mags to look up the feature?

RoadkillUK - 22/8/02 at 06:56 PM

She's the wife of a friend of mine.
However, this isn't getting the car identified now is it ?

locodude - 22/8/02 at 11:05 PM

Lets get down to brass tacks. There are no returns on the arches which smacks of dutton influence i.e cheap and nasty, so could it be an ill fated eagle of some sort and do you still have her phone number. Point her to my photo archive, I'm sure that would interest here!

Actually the arches were pretty thick, you could sit on them safely (even me )
Do many have returns? I can't say I'd noticed many really except on cars with less protruding arches.

But, no there is no Dutton or Eagle connection.

stephen_gusterson - 22/8/02 at 11:40 PM

Alan...
I get the impression this was a car you designed in the past, and that you are trying to find out if any exist of if we know of it....is that way obvious or am i way out....whatever, i have no idea.

Steve,

I'm really testing the memory of anyone who is old enough to remember back to the mid-eighties.
I did do some design work on it, but mostly building and developing the prototypes. I wll eventually reveal what it is/was. It's almost certainly unknown to most of the current generation of builders.
I was interested in Locodudes comments about returns, as I thought they were uncommon on cycle type arches.
Still, if nothing else it provokes some debate

Dick Axtell - 25/8/02 at 12:49 PM

Hi Alan,

Was this vehicle a proto Magic? At least, I think that was its brand name. Slightly wider, and more bulbous than a Melos.

In which kit-car mag was the analysis feature?

Dick

Dick Axtell - 25/8/02 at 12:52 PM
