Can any cunning fellow on here recomend some decent sealed cartridge bearings?
My mountain bike has 14 of them in varying sizes... they never seem to last very long before they sieze up...
I would rather spend more to get top quality bearings that will actually last... replacing them is a right nightmare...
Are there any bearings more specifically deisnged for low angular rotation, rather than full rotation as per a regular bearing?
Any thoughts?
which bearings are you particularly talking about? Mine has loads - headset, bottom bracket, loads of pivot bearings for the full suspension etc.
Proper cleaning and the correct grease seems to be the key - as well as buying quality parts in the first place. Just replaced two pivot bearings and
a shock mount in the past few weeks myself

Its all the suspension bearings at the back for the swingarm... they rattle like a bugger... figured its time to replace them... this will be the 3rd
set that are going into the frame since I bought it in 2004.. so not bad going I guess...
Depending on use i would say that its not too bad really. I'm on a specific MTB forum so will post a question up on there. Ceramic bearings of
the correct size might be a way forward - but dearer!! SKF bearings seem highly regarded.
Do you use a pressure washer on the bike? That kills bearings more than anything else!!
I had seen that website with kits... it doesnt specify what the bearings actually are though (in terms of make etc)...
I have a small family run bearing company near work... if I can get the last of the bearings out of the frame, I might pop in and ask their
advice...
I dont use a pressure washer... tend to use a hosepipe with a medium spread on it... enough to rinse the dirt off, but not to blast it...
check out the specialized website- they have manualson there that I am pretty sure identify the bearing size.
simlybearings should have tehm, or RS if local to ya.
Are they ball races? Seems like a rather inappropriate design choice if they are.

Yes, given that they dont ever rotate fully, ball races do seem a little odd...
What would be more appropriate though?
