You've just realized!

Where have you been for the last decade!?

Irony - 12/7/10 at 12:26 PM

Stuff like this makes me very angry and normally I climb to the top of my highest soap box. From that soap box I would normal start spouting on about 'Britishness' and 'national pride', but today I am quite tired so I will merely comment

'Pah'

balidey - 12/7/10 at 12:36 PM

That whole article made me laugh.... should it have done?

A1 - 12/7/10 at 12:36 PM

i agree...in fact, im now a member of a new religion, called a1-ism, where i get to pick and choose what I do. we have many paid holidays and wear what we want to work. were exempt of speed limits, cause the mighty one said we have to go everywhere at no less than 100mph, and we cannot be fined for motoring offences, cause it would be religion-ist.
anyone joining?

on a more serious note, hopefully the government cuts will get rid of people who sit around making up cr*p like that.

Madinventions - 12/7/10 at 12:42 PM

How ridiculous.

Tell me more. Whats the dress-code like? Bikini tops and thongs? And perhaps a burka for the women?

A1 - 12/7/10 at 12:45 PM

whatever takes your fancy! if you want to wear a bikini top, the new lord wont mind!

Snuggs - 12/7/10 at 12:45 PM

I have no time for religionists and their practices. If they wish to do something that most sane and rational people find stupid/funny then let them get on with it, however when it affects anyone else then they should be politely told to SOD OFF.

The oddest thing about that article is not really about religion.
Here's a question for you. If you are going to a public swimming pool, do you not drink the water for Religious reasons, or that fact its probably got loads of wee in it.

You do seem to had missed the problem in this story quite spectacularly. This is not a problem with Muslims demanding something. It is a problem with ignorant city councillors doing something really stupid out of fear of something they don't understand. The problem is the moron on the council who thought this was a good idea, not with the people whose "sensitivities" he thinks he is "protecting".

exactly what I was thinking!

also, I can never get over how much of a douche God must be:

<at the pearly gates>
God: right, I've got your heaven/hell checklist here.... hmmm, it shows you've been generous, kind, charitable, selfless and pious your entire life. Well I guess you can come on.....

WAIT A MINUTE!!!

you once accidentally swallowed some mildly poisonous water during ramadan when you were nine and on a compulsory swimming lesson??!!!

An enternity in Hell it is!!

A1 - 12/7/10 at 01:04 PM

^^

scootz - 12/7/10 at 01:09 PM

I agree completely Craig... God is Love we are told, yet if I lead a completely humble and helpful life I will still not get to enter his paradise just because I didn't acknowledge him. No... he is apparently so self-centered that unless I submit to him, then he will have me tortured for all eternity!

Doesn't sound like a particularly nice chap to me!

02GF74 - 12/7/10 at 01:24 PM

ignorant infidel!!

The comment was not aimed specifically at muslims.

However the BBC article states
" The council said the document, produced by its Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education, was based on information from the Muslim Council of Great Britain, an umbrella organisation that claims to represent up to 500 Muslim groups in the UK."

The moron on the council was probably heavily influenced by the advise given.

Jon Ison - 12/7/10 at 02:08 PM

Having worked in many Muslim countries during Ramadan I'm 99.9% certain they all drank water during daylight hours ? Maybe wrong but I'm sure the guys I worked with did.

dinosaurjuice - 12/7/10 at 02:58 PM

is living life not enough for some people

Nowt wrong with being an infidel
I have one of the shirts below (I'm not the one modelling it) and I've only had compliments from the younger muslims who've commented

The missus doesn't let me wear it when we're out in Bradford together

infidel tshirt
infidel tshirt

bi22le - 12/7/10 at 05:35 PM

I like that T-shirt, where do I get one??

Religion is for insecure gullibles who dont like the idea of having control of their own fate and NO LIFE AFTER DEATH.

I really didnt want to be sucked in. . . . .and I have . . . . . .

Sorry

stevebubs - 12/7/10 at 05:44 PM

What makes me chortle is that very few schools will actually have pupils in them during the month of August.....so the whole article is pointless for 99% of the UK population....

Instead, a number of the kids will be hanging around street corners and indulging in under age binge drinking....

Simon - 12/7/10 at 07:45 PM

The world will be so much more peaceful when religion is given the oh so far back seat it deserves.

Can I recommend to any Sky viewers to watch some of the religious channels - about 5 minutes should be enough!

All hail Charles Darwin/Richard Dawkins etc etc

I bought mine from a Texas gunshop (over the net) cos it was the only place they were available, but they're available all over the place now. I think they're popular among the forces

RK - 12/7/10 at 09:35 PM

It's nothing to do with being PC. It has everything to do with the school/council/idiotic bureaucracy making an excuse to cut services to the local taxpayers.

chrsgrain - 12/7/10 at 09:40 PM

Talking of cuts - the Muslim Council of Britain has been funded by the taxpayer to the tune of about £500,000 in the last 5 years or so.... perhaps a good place to start looking for savings??

Lucky the coffee cleared the keyboard, this is the spare one!

Then I rechecked the article and they reckon ramadan starts in September (which is funny cos I worked a night with a guy doing this and I know for a fact it was not september or august)

Meh, I'm more annoyed that they banned playing British Bulldog

JoelP - 13/7/10 at 05:35 PM

im sure the people who make these stupid calls/articles are trying to make the gullible public hate muslims. The muslims i know would scoff at such a stupid idea.

paulf - 13/7/10 at 08:44 PM

I wondered this , isn't Stoke and Staffs an area with some BNP MPs?
