I’ve decided to set up a work bench on my balcony and have opted to test my floor paint on it before I do. Unfortunately there’s a large oily patch which won’t go away. Usually white spirit takes it off, but it doesn’t seem to be having any effect on this surface. Has anyone got any suggestions?

brake cleaner should do it

Went to the new Kingston Pk Halfords in Newcastle looking for brake cleaner, but unfortunately they didn't have any. Instead I found that Gunk do a drive/patio cleaner which does the job. Don't suppose that anyone cares, but they say that knowledge is power, so that should make you all more powerful than you were 30 seconds ago.

Incidentally, there's 10% of their otherwise exorbitant prices for the next week.
