Radio 4 advert
Ninehigh - 6/6/11 at 09:07 PM

The radio 4 advert that's on tv at the moment, where they're playing some kind of quiz where they talk about a subject... Is it Nicholas Parsons presenting it? Also does anyone know what the show's called and if/when it's on?

Macbeast - 6/6/11 at 09:12 PM

Just A Minute ? Where they try to talk for one minute on a given subject without hesitation or deviation ??

Ninehigh - 6/6/11 at 09:15 PM

That's the one! I'm hoping I can find it on a podcast somewhere because it looks like it'll be a great laugh

It's been going on for too long (20 years?) - the format's getting tired. It was really funny when Kenneth Williams was on the programme though.

Now, if you ever see "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" listed, make sure that you listen to it! It's also on BBC's iPlayer.

Also, "The News Quiz" hosted by Sandi Toksvig, on Friday nights...

Clue's not nearly so good without Humph.

Samantha's as luscious as ever though

HowardB - 6/6/11 at 09:27 PM

the ever fragrant samantha!

also the NOW Show, that is hysterical.

Just a minute is also repeated on Radio 4 Extra (Radio 7 as was).
Here's some (from series 60)

Much prefer Clue myself.

At 6.30pm to 7pm Monday to Friday there's a comedy show on Radio 4. Sandi Toksvig on The News Quiz also my favourite!

Dave Ashurst - 7/6/11 at 07:04 AM

Just a Minute is great.

I'm going to have to set up some automatic recording...

or just get a radio?

Radio 4 is great though, I didn't think anything could tempt me away from Planet Rock but R4 has managed it. I even work a little late on a Friday so I get 'The News Quiz' on my drive home.

True no doubt I have a radio somewhere that I could steal, heck I've probably got on in my phone. All it is I usually pick everything up in podcast form and thus can queue it all up and listen all night at work (I got loads!) So some way of having the show in a mp3 file would be massively more convenient. Couldn't you download things off iplayer (as opposed to just streaming it)?

David Jenkins - 7/6/11 at 04:41 PM

You can get BBC podcasts of some of these programmes - certainly the News Quiz (and the Now Show, when that's on).

blakep82 - 7/6/11 at 04:44 PM

is that advert (assuming its the same one i saw) not for a station called radio 4 extra? which i think is a digital only station? like 1 extra is for radio 1?

although 'just a minute' seems to be on both, but both stations have different schedules
