Is this sport an Olympic one as well,
As i caould actually know a possible medal contender!

That would be well cool

Ha! Didn't expect this Fozzie!
Thanks!

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I've withheld my British Champion title again. I was also GB league champion this year which is a new scheme they've brought in.

The best thing about it is I'm 99% likely to be selected for TeamGB which is the British team going out to the European Championships in Genoa, Italy in September.

Liam,
As I said, I've won British Champs (or the previous equivalent) before now. It's the internationals which I'm yet to win. I won Silver at the 2010 Worlds, silver at the 2009 Euros. Really just want to better that this year.

Steve M,
Sadly it's not currently an Olympic sport. If Paris had won the 2012 (you may remember they were the favourites till Blair decided we had a spare £12Bn to spend) then it would have been at the Olympics as a demonstration sport. It looks like it might be coming (it now has all the pre-cursors to Olympic recognition) and I've seen the pictures of the Savate President meeting with the Olympic President. But I have a nasty feeling I'll be too old by the time it finally happens.

Steve Hignett,
Yeah, my girlfriend is really good.
British Champion, 2009 European Silver medal, 2010 World Silver medallist.
She also has competed at a pretty high level in Muay Thai kickboxing too.

So, onwards and upwards to the 2011 Euros and 2012 Worlds!

Cheers,
James

Haha! It probably is a little more violent that most (non-abusive) households! But we're pretty good and it 99.9% of the time stays in the gym.
It's funny, I've know couples that have far more violent relationships than my girlfriend and I, and they don't spend >4 sessions a week practicing to beat each other up!

We're both pretty competitive so we don't even tend to spar at classes any more. It just tends to escalate past where it should until someone gets hurt. It's similar with the twins that we train with. They're fine with anyone else, but get them together and they'll take lumps out of each other all session!

Cheers,
James
