Tel Aviv - Doctors in Israel have removed a 13-centimetre-long worm from the eye of a patient, daily newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported on
Tuesday.
The patient, a 60-year-old man from Haifa, was being examined for a suspected eye infection when the optical interloper was discovered, said the
report.
The creature was reportedly anaesthetised with a smidgeon of cocaine in order to prevent it wriggling before it was carefully removed.
Doctors identified the worm as a nematode belonging to the genus dirofilaria, a type of plant parasite which often causes infections in the eyes of
certain animals, especially dogs and pigs.
The visitor had probably entered the man's eye while he was gardening and had likely been there for a number of months, said the report.

How can you be so distracted with your gardening that you don't notice a 13cm parasite crawling inside your eye?!

Common enough in places like Guinea and the like.
A family friend went for a long holiday out there. Ended up having some long weird Nematode worm thing living in her leg. They managed to get one end
of it poking out and then wrapped it round a matchstick to pull it out!
