Excellent customer service. Bin top
AndyW - 22/7/11 at 02:38 PM

No not a tin top story, but infact a bin top. We got a Stainless steel Brabantia bin as part of our wedding gift list 6 years ago. Just recently the catch at the top started to bend and the clip would not locate and the bin would not close. My dad had a look and snapped the tab off!

So I went on their web site and the broken bit is integral to the complete lid. (exciting stuff I know!!) So I clicked on the replacement part and it was 60 euro's. Not paying that for a bin lid. So instead of buy it now was an option of warranty replacement. Clicked warranty, filled out how long I had the bin, clicked no proof of purchase and hit "order".

Today, without any question a shiny brand new lid turned up completely free of charge.

Bin returned to former shiny glory, wife now happy

Excellent customer service.

Just thought I'd say!!

Thanks for listening........

They have a 10 year warranty, but its pure class that they honour it.

Heard similar stories from a number of people - seems like you pay once, and then they'll ensure it lasts a lifetime.

We had exactly the same problem with our bin. And the Brabantia customer service was exactly the same a new lid was dispatched immediately, free of charge even though the bin was a few years old with no proof of purchase.

It's rare in this day and age to receive such fantastic customer service so I'll always buy my bins from Brabantia now

OK, not a bin, but we had a garden fork and spade as a wedding gift that I snapped one of the handles on. Yes, mid-lean, went bum over elbow. As I hit the deck i saw the sticker on the handle say '10 year guarantee' and as I was a good husband I knew our 10th anniversary was looming. Contacted Wilkinson Sword and few days later a brand new one turned up.
Unfortunately now my garden implements don't match.

And I have been on the other end of the fence on this. Customers sometimes ring me up for warranty parts and I do occasionally chuck a few parts in a jiffy bag and post them out FOC. A few pence of parts can make them come back to us to buy £50,000 worth of kit.

Thule customer service has been excellent too.

I bought some USED roof bars off ebay, and they had the T-profile end cap missing on two of the corners.

As I couldn't find the parts, I sent a letter to Thule saying that they're missing/broken and asking what the part number was and where I could buy it.
In a week, they'd posted me two brand new complete corner assemblies with end caps in a jiffy bag! I had no proof of purchase, I didn't buy it new, they were well out of warranty, and I didn't even ask for a replacement, just where I could buy them..

So they certainly got brownie points for when it comes to my next roof/luggage accessory purchase

As above (somewhere!)

Certainly nice and refreshing to hear of honourable and good customer service in this country nowadays!
