Can you connect a vcr to a digital tv to enable me to record digital tv or do I need a digital recorder.
Thank Matty
In theory you should be able to record to a VCR but it will be an analogue signal out via a scart cable (I assume). This means it will be analogue when you play it back so lower quality and definitely not HD.
I have currently got it set up to record analogue tv but with the analgue signal been turned off, I want to record the digital tv.
Matty
Right, so you'll need some type of analogue output from the Digital TV (or set top box) to feed the input on the VCR. I guess this will depend
on what TV/set top box you have and the outputs it supports.
I assume on the old system you feed the ariel input into the VCR then chained to the TV via a scart lead?. You'll to do it from the digital
receiver back to the VCR this time round for it to work correctly.
Yeah it'll be:
Ariel>digital box>vcr>tv
You'll only be able to record "what you're watching" though.
I remember one of my mum's friends would record things off sky for us and we'd have to flick through her messing about with the menus
