Been hooked on listening to audiobooks while driving around at work the latest being a Radio 4 series on the trials of the old Bailey during the 18th century all very interesting.
Any road up found this site old bailey online type in your name and you can see if your great great great great great great great grandad got hung drawn and quartered and the transcript of the trial.

My family is clean as a whistle in england anyhow, not so in new south wales where in the 1860s some distant reli murdered a ranger and was hung. Only discovered this when i started to do my family tree and i have a very unusual surname so much so that there is only 2 in the leeds phone book and the other is my sister.

Yup... my Dads side are traveling-stock. He left them behind as a young man after he realized that their lifestyle and influence was destroying him (he was spending more-and-more time courtesy of HM for fighting). Bizarrely, I only ever set-eyes on my paternal granddad the once when I came on duty to see his name on the custody list, so I went down to the cell-block to have a swatch out of curiosity

I've lost count of the number of relatives I've locked up over the years. I've known who they were, but they hadn't a clue who I was!

Parts of my family are easily upset and tend to take it out on the people that p#ss them off the most. Any body remember this guy he's one of ours.
