What vacuum cleaner
Ivan - 28/9/11 at 08:34 AM

Need a new vacuum cleaner that will pick up pet hair from carpet as HRH Camilla the Corgi sheds like it's going out of fashion.

Roller brush must be easy to clean.

Thinking of a 2000W one with a water filter and hepa filter - anybody had any experience of these.

We have a 2200watt VAX Pet. Copes with a Labrador that never seems to stop shedding Better than our previous Dyson Animal, for about a quarter of the price.

VAX Pet ---- designed for pet hair. Powerrful but not as robust as the Dyson but much much cheaper, we buy a new one ever 3--4 years or so.
Recommend you get extra filters but not VAX branded ones as they can be bought very cheaply on line.

You can sometimes get VAX vacuums bundled with VAX carpet washers for a very good price.

Sebo:

We've got the regular one, not the pet one. Had it 8 years now, looks and works like new, and you can get all the serviceable parts for it easily too. If it went bang I'd get another one straight away, superb piece of kit, and used commercially everywhere so must be good.

Not the cheapest, but definitely one of the best.

+1 for the vax ones.

i have a cat n dog and use this vac.

apart from the filter needing washing occasionally its really good.

you need to not vac up big items cos they clog the pipe thing.

but im sure its the same with any other vac.

We bought a Miele 3 years ago on recommendation from Which? consumer magazine - had all sorts of makes over the years, but this is absolutely fantastic, we don't have a pet, but they do a pet hair version too.

You want something like MIELE CAT & DOG 6000 VACUUM CLEANER (NEW) | eBay

Hoover do a 2000w pet hair one, purple. Got it works perfectly.

Can't say the same for vax though, ended up having 3 of them becuase they weren't lasting a year...

Thanks for the feedback all - will have a look at them

My Parents swear by Miele vacuum cleamers for pet hair.

Personally I think a broom works better and I don't own a working vacuum cleaner, and I've got carpet all round.

We've got a black lab and a dyson animal - we both like it and it does a very good job. Issues are the hose is very 'tight' to pull away from the hoover.
