Model making isn't about the finished product, it's more about the actual building, you could ask 'why?' for alot of other hobbies
that are essentially pointless (Like Fishing, where you put the fish back?).
I'd rather have one of those sitting on my bookcase than the sort of ornaments most people have.
Impressive patience for sure. It kept him off the streets, thus he is unlikely to be mugged.
