Right oh, I have just about finished the fireplace. At the moment I cant quite afford the wood burner that I want so what I do need is idea's as
to what to do witht the fire place. I had thought about a log basket, but they seem all too small. The wife want to put a big vase in (which is a no
no as far as Im concerned). So what can I either put in there are do to it to finish it off as a "feature". This weekend it gets painted,
the chimney breast will be red and wall paper either side.
In side will probably be painted a warm cream. So help me with some idea's please before swmbo gets all arty and starts buying sticks with lights
on, vases, giant candles etc. Here is the sizes:
Appreciate idea's thanks. Will update when i've decided.

Just had a thought, what do you lot think if I put in a raised sort of platform, logs underneath and a log basket at a slightly higher point??
AV receiver, blue ray player, ps3 and sky hd box, with a 50 inch plasma bolted above
If you have logs then you ought to have a fire, I put a wine rack in the old fire place where there wasn't a fire, but the plan was to put in a
catalytic gas stove thingy. The advantage being that there is no chimney required.
Have you got a stack hifi, that would fit perhaps?
hth

I little of topic but that would look lovely with a bit of sandstone as a base.

Lots of storage for bottles of wine/beer
Maybe leave a couple of pots free for her stuff?

GF and I did exactly the same. We put a faux log burner in (cost about £70 I think.) It looked very realistic and fooled most. The only problem was that we never turned it on - it was like a rhythmic gymnast playing with a hair dryer.

Well think it would look lovely full of sticks with lights on, vases and giant candles.

wine rack... then log burner at a later date.
Stick a sheet of glass on the front, fill it with water and put some tropical fish in it.......
Put a metal grill on the front and keep a few budgies in it........
Paint the inside black and have a large model train coming out of the tunnel.......
The possibilities are endless...

Beep beep..............................
This is what I've done with my fireplace.........
I still need to paint it , but its always too hot !
One old propane cylinder , a few cutting discs , some scrap 4" pipe from work and a few hours welding - heats the house a treat , and cost
nothing
Now that's Locost and practical

Fill it to the top with round logs of the same length....
I had a house with alcoves either side of the chimney breast, lined them with ply and filled them to the ceiling with logs.

"Please Note. Auction price is for cut metal only and you will need to roll, weld and paint it yourself"![]()
So £45 BIN for £3 worth of scrap![]()

Thats coz ebay would not let me free list a buy it now only item

That's showing initiative, I liked the original concept though like telling someone they can build a car for £250 or something
