About 3-15 today the airfield where I work was hit by what can only be discribed as a tornado, It took the roofs of 4 buildings and demolished a
timber store. Fortunately no-one was hurt, all over in about 15 seconds but the damage is unbelevable.
Did anybody else cop for it?
We are just near Selby East yorks.
Denis.
Seen one out at sea when I lived in the NE of Scotland, but never on land!
Hope your cave wasn't disturbed!
The building next to the cave had it's back wall blown out but I think it saved my place from more serious damage.
Denis.
Wow Denis im glad you all are ok
Is your work shop ok ?
Graham
Strange one Denis!
'Selby, the tornado capital of UK' has a certain ring to it.
Main thing, no-one hurt and presumably the bricks 'n' mortar will be insured.
I recall in 1963, when doing my saturday job at Safeway (packing at the checkout, for 2/6d an hour, a quid for the day) overhearing a conversation
between an elderly female customer and the checkout girl. We'd had some very unseasonal weather and it was the usual topic of conversation. The
elderly lady ended the discussion with, "course, I blame all this aviation! Then there's them satellites."
You can't argue with logic[/i ]like that.

I'm in one of the tallest buildings in York and this afternoon we were hit with a hell of a brief wind/rain storm.
Didn't look like what you've decsribed, but it was certainly swirling like mad and the rain was coming from all angles. As you said, over
in seconds but came from nowhere. It will have been around a similar time
Does the uk have the highest tornado rate in the world ? I'm sure I heard that somewhere.
Yep here was a ref[url=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-421156/UK-highest-tornado-rate-world.html]

I had one in my garden a couple of years ago in the summer. It was about two foot high and lasted for about quater of an hour in one spot. Never seen
a 'dust devil' before.
