You don't mention whether this is a rotational position or whether you must relocate.
In my opinion that's a pretty poolry paid job considering that a: Its in the oil industry & b: it's in Afghanistan.
For comparrison a rig mechanic in the North Sea pays the same if not slightly better with a 2 weeks on / 4 weeks off schedule.
A mechaincs position in Nigeria pays £100k+ with a 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off schedule.
Davie
Looking for an electrical job in the off shore sector towards the end of this year
but in a warmer climate any ideas chaps
This is rotational.
I'm not sure how comparable machinists and mechanics are but im guessing putting things together that are destined to make billions of dollars
will command a higher rate.
This isn't a job in oil and gas, this is defence.
shame its where it is as i am looking for a new job and this is my line of work

A colleague is recently back from the front line and is of the opinion that these camps are very safe. They have at least 10 miles of clear, flat land which is further than any of the arms that the afghans have that could reach you.
I would jump at the chance it's the wife that won't let me
