You know how many times you've been told not to work under the car without axle stands?
Well don't.
Changing the rear shocks on my Locost last Monday I kicked the jack out, dropping the car on to my stomach.
Yes, there was plenty of padding (saved you all a job there) but I've got a tear in my diaphram, a swollen spleen and severe brusing to my
abdomen - it could have been much worse.
Let's be careful out there.

Strange to think - you got off lightly.
My Mother's Cousin was working under his car and the very same fate befell him. His youngest son was thirteen at the time. Not the best age to
lose your father. Killed stone dead.

I dont have this problem with the land Rovers.. can almost walk around under there. Hmmm 4x4 Locost on Rover axles.... takes a bit of thinking
about!

Ouch. I'm always a bit scared working under a car even with stands. I sometimes stick a couple of wheels underneath somewhere in case the worst
happens.
Was someone there to help you out or were you lay there for a while until someone found you?

I'm always telling my assistant to watch out, eg wear gogles when under car, me, I never do! Stupid really, anything can drop, ain't worth
it.

don't forget the goggles when grinding, i speak from experience (and several hours down at a+e)

and have them fit really really closely - even then the sparks come in the vent holes.
