ok clever people,i have some concrete fence posts going up,at one end i want to put a gate,so,can i drill and rawlplug the hinges onto the concrete or should i put a wooden post up?

If they are well concreted in place they will take a gate, the only problem will be getting a plug into the post without hitting rebar.

Another way is to wrap steel plate around the concreat and secure wood in the recess then screw hinges to it

Having drilled concrete fence posts, I'd recommend using an SDS drill and fitting the hinges to the post.

John if they are the rebated type posts that fence panels fit into, then another way to do it is fix a timber into the unused rebate with a big enough section to screw your hinges onto. HTH Ray
